Get ready: Petrol prices set to spike soon

Article image for Get ready: Petrol prices set to spike soon

Consumers will soon experience an increase in petrol prices due to the two to six-week delay between global crude oil prices and pump prices.

Motor Trades Association WA CEO Stephen Moir told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live, “A number of factors are involved [in the price increase] and none of those look like they are going to be resolved any time soon.”

“There is about a two week lag from the point we take delivery to it getting into the bowsers. I think what’s triggering this one, is this prolonged cost of living pressures, that most households are under right now.”

“The government really needs to look at this and halve it for 12 months,” Mr Moir continued.
