Gary Adshead got hot under the collar at a positive study about vapes and e-cigarettes.

Foundation for a Smoke Free World, which is solely funded by cigarette maker Philip Morris, conducted the research, sparking Gary’s confusion and fury at the matter.

Founding chairman of the Australian Tobacco Harm Reduction Association, Dr Colin Mendelsohn, says there is no conflict of interest between the foundation’s overall goals and the article.

“If their goals align with public health then we have to be open to that – they’re trying to research safer alternatives to cigarettes so people can switch away from the deadly products,” Dr Mendelsohn said.

“They’re supplying these kids with vaping products, because that’s the new market, and all Phillip Morris is doing is figuring out how to get in on it… and you’re helping him!” Gary responded.
