Gareth Parker’s blunt warning once we open borders

The forced isolation of 12 Fiona Stanley Hospital staff after a man’s shock positive COVID test should not become the norm, given our highly-vaccinated society, Gareth Parker has told his 6PR Breakfast listeners.
“We had two cases yesterday … one of them very unusual I must say,” Parker said, as calls ramp up for the McGowan government to reveal how close contacts will be handled after borders open on February 5.
“A man turns up to Fiona Stanley Hospital and he’s seeking treatment for something non-COVID related.
“He gets tested while he is there for COVID and he is found to be positive… sounds like he didn’t even know he had it.”
The man’s four housemates were taken to hotel quarantine, while 12 hospital staff also then considered close contacts were forced to isolate for 14 days due to the diagnosis.
“That’s pretty wild, I’ve gotta say,” Parker continued.
“That so many people can be taken out of circulation over a case that, well, it doesn’t even seem he’s that infectious.
“We can’t have standards like that continue to apply for much longer, because society and the hospital system will grind to an absolute halt if you’re taking that many people out of circulation for exposure to one case.
“In a highly vaccinated society, continuing to run things that way doesn’t make sense.”
