GAME DAY: Freo struggle with Blues

It was a messy clash between the Fremantle and Carlton on Sunday afternoon, but it was the Blues who narrowly took out the four-point win at Domain Stadium.
It was a see-sawing game in the fourth quarter, but two consecutive Carlton goals all but secured the win late in the final term, Chris Mayne answered back for the home side right on the siren to finish the game, 9.14 (68) to Carlton 10.12 (72).

Fremantle suffered through multiple injuries with Hayden Ballantyne heading to the rooms early but did return to struggle through the game. Nat Fyfe followed closely behind with a leg injury, while Danyle Pearce and Michael Johnson also had short stints on the bench with injury concerns.

The skills were scrappy but Lachie Neale still racked up 35 disposals while Michael Barlow had 32. Dale Thomas kicked three goals for Carlton and Liam Jones also added two late goals.
