Future uncertain for WA’s top jockey

WA racing authorities have indicated “rules are rules” when asked about the future of star West Australian jockey William Pike.
The star hoop’s stellar career could come to an abrupt halt after Racing and Wagering WA chief racing integrity officer Denis Borovica told Larry Graham on 6PR Mornings there would be no special exemptions to its new vaccine mandate for Pike, who has notched more than 2800 wins to his name.
Under new rules Pike, who failed to declare his vaccination status and featured in a video questioning the validity of COVID-19 vaccines recently, wouldn’t be allowed to ride from February 5.
The new mandate includes all people involved in running horse, harness and greyhound racing in WA.
