The Eagles are investigating several players who went to a Leederville nightclub on Saturday, just 24 hours after they were thumped by Richmond by 109 points at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

Coach Adam Simpson, who is in isolation and will miss this weekend’s game against Brisbane, says he’s “furious and disappointed”.

West Coast said in a statement that “given the current environment and the peak in COVID-19 cases in Perth, the club is devastated that some players opted to go out publicly as they have done”.

“The club has gone to great lengths in educating the players around the need to adhere to club guidelines and it is beyond disappointing that they have put themselves in this situation.

“It is particularly disheartening given the strain on player availability at this stage of the season.”

Currently at the bottom of the ladder, the Eagles have only 20 fit AFL-listed players available for selection, as health and safety protocols and widespread injuries hamper selection for Saturday night’s clash with the Lions in Queensland.
