6PR Afternoons is excited to introduce Backstories, a new weekly segment where Julie-anne Sprague talks to high-profile people about how they got to where they are.

Many come from quite humble beginnings and then went on to create multi-million dollar companies, become Hollywood stars, athletic champions or just achieve something most people didn’t think they were capable of earlier in life.

The first guest on Backstories grew up in the Wheatbelt and left high school in Year 10.

The son of an automotive parts and fuel merchant would form a property company in 1980 and in 2007 debuted on the Rich List with an estimated worth of $420 million.
