Fremantle chief executive Simon Garlick says the club’s quest to play AFL finals this season could be determined by the COVID-19 landscape.

The Dockers boss told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that Fremantle players and families were taking extra steps to remain COVID-free ahead of the club’s 2022 season, which begins on Sunday in Adelaide against the Crows.

“What we’ve asked them to do is, try to curtail their day-to-day activity to minimise the chance of COVID coming into the program,” he said on Friday.

“We know it’s inevitable… but we’re putting in a whole heap of measures that lessen the risk… within reason.”
