The City of Fremantle plans to endorse the Indigenous Voice to Parliament and spend $35,500 promoting a Yes vote ahead of the referendum.

Fremantle mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge told Millsy and Karl the city’s council will likely fully support the decision.

“We’ve had a packed town hall of people wanting to know how they could come along and support the Yes campaign,” she said.

Fremantle Councillor Marija Vucviv disagreed with the decision, telling Gary Adshead ratepayer’s money should not be spent on political issues.

“If you’re going to have a balanced conversation at all, you need the other side or the voices in the middle to be heard as well,” she said.
