Tom Morris has been sacked by Fox Footy after a vulgar WhatsApp audio message the sports reporter sent to friends was leaked publicly on Thursday.

The sound clip featured comments about a female work colleague of Morris at Fox Sports.

Another video later emerged of Morris making homophobic and racist remarks.

Fox Sports had on Thursday afternoon stood down the AFL journalist “pending an investigation” into the “inappropriate” recording.

“While it is not appropriate to comment further, Fox Sports is committed to a workplace where everyone feels safe, respected and valued,” a spokesperson told the Herald Sun.

Morris was earlier thrust into the media spotlight on Wednesday night after Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge’s scathing attack on him after the club’s loss to Melbourne, accusing him of “gutter journalism” and “muckraking”.

The Western Bulldogs made a donation of $20,000 to a club-linked youth mental health organisation after Beveridge apologised for his post-match remarks.
