Former spy details plan to row across the Atlantic Ocean

Simon Beaumont

This isn’t for the faint-hearted!

A former spy along with three others, all with military backgrounds, will row across the Atlantic Ocean in 2023.

61-year-old Alisdair Putt told Gary Adshead they will take off from the Canary Islands before landing in Antigua in the Caribbean around six weeks later.

“That’s 3000 nautical miles, just under 5000 kilometres,” he said on 6PR Mornings.

“We’ve got to try and keep the boat moving all the time.

“So two of us rowing, two hours on – two hours off, for that six weeks.

“We’ve got to do a lot of training next year.”
