News of the Essendon Bombers potentially changing their team logo and colours has been met with chagrin.

Several former Essendon names and sports personalities have pointed to the history reflected by the Bombers’ uniforms as an important reason behind it’s continued existence.

Herald Sun sports stalwart Jon Anderson told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it would be a tragedy to throw away that narrative.

“Australia wouldn’t be the country it is without it; we should be encouraging people to read the history, rather than some idiot coming out and saying we should change it,” Mr Anderson said.
