League football is returning to the iconic WACA this Saturday after a 20-year absence, with East Fremantle to play home games over two seasons after a deal struck with cricket officials.

East Fremantle Football Club president Mark Stewart told Gareth Parker the venue was ideal for footy fans and has been the scene of some memorable fixtures and it was great Perth had so many venues to cater for sport here now.

“I think it’s a really exciting time for sport here in general… you’ve got the expansion of womens’ football, just the ability to have enough facilities [to have options],” he said.

The inner-city venue has undergone a raft of changes and improvements of late, as listeners recalled their favourite memories of matches there on 6PR Breakfast.
