Thousands of FedEx employees across the country have walked off the job today in a 24 hour strike over their conditions and treatment.

It comes as six other transport companies have accepted the demands, centred mainly around job security, of the Transport Workers Union (TWU) but US company FedEx is yet to agree.

WA branch secretary of the TWU Tim Dawson said the action will cause major parcel delays.

“This is the last straw,” he told Mark Gibson on 6PR Breakfast.

“It’s not what they want to do, but they feel strongly enough about having job security, and that’s why they’re here today.”
