The controversy over Perth Mint’s alleged breaches of commodities laws continues, despite Mark McGowan’s description of the issues as a “storm in a f***ing teacup”.

Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers commented on the newly appointed auditor to investigate the mint’s potential breaking of anti-money laundering laws.

“These are very serious revelations which have been uncovered in recent times,” he said.
