Family of mother killed in crash ‘devastated’ as drunk driver walks free
A family has been left reeling after the 32-year-old driver involved in an incident in which a mother was killed escaped court with a fine.
The driver was charged with drunk driving after blowing a blood alcohol level of 1.22 after the incident, more than double the limit.
Nine News reporter Sarah Smith told Simon Beaumont onĀ 6PR Mornings it’s important to state the driver was not charged with the death of Sharmayne Fisher, who allegedly stepped in front of the car on a green light.
“It wasn’t mentioned in court that the crash resulted in a pedestrian being hit; as to why that is we don’t know, but it did upset Sharmayne’s family,” Ms Smith said.
