Family facing deportation as son’s disability deemed ‘taxpayer burden’

Simon Beaumont

A Perth family is facing deportation to India after their application for permanent residency was denied due to their son’s down syndrome disability being deemed a potential cost to taxpayers.

The Aneesh family has insisted they’ve never requested any NDIS support.

The mother of Aaryan, Krishna Aneesh, told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings she was heartbroken when she was given the deportation notice.

“We are happy here, we find the society gives him a better living opportunity and better future – the society has included him and there is no discrimination – once I received this rejection letter I was heartbroken,” Ms Kollikkara said.
