Laws recently enacted by Anthony Albanese to evict the Russian Federation from a property near the Parliament is being defied by a Russian diplomat resulting in a diplomatic standoff for the land. 

Professor Donald Rothwell has said it’s very important the Australian Federal Police determine the occupants diplomatic status.

“All we know is that it’s been reported that he is a Russian diplomat which is actually very important because if he is an accredited Russian diplomat to the embassy here in Canberra well that means he enjoys diplomatic immunity,” he told Gary Adshead.
