Last week, Perth Today host Simon Beaumont interviewed two members of the Sovereign Peoples Assembly of Western Australia to better understand their beliefs.

Today, there are reports of the fatal shooting of two police officers trying to execute a search warrant on a radicalised conspiracy theorist known as a self-proclaimed Sovereign Citizen.

Perth listeners asked Simon to find a definition of a “Sovereign Citizen”.

Dr. Harry Hobbs, an expert from UNSW Law and Justice, provided an Australian definition and stated,

“The argument is, they have the true version of the law and they can pick and choose what they follow.”
