There’s been outrage at the death of a toddler from leukaemia, which was left undiagnosed, despite numerous alleged attempts from his parents to seek medical help.

Former professor of paediatric oncology at the University of Western Australia, Dr Catherine Cole, says while blood tests in children are rare, GP’s should do “more” when children are sick for long periods of time.

“It’s not really for me, as a specialist, to discuss what can be learnt from this … I think it’s really a discussion that’s more important to be had both in general practice and in emergencies,”  she told Gary Adshead.
