A major rescue operation is underway after a severe snowstorm left hundreds stranded on Mount Everest.

Accomplished mountaineer Andrew Locke says the operation is taking place on the eastern side of the mountain.

“The Kangshung region, which is very rarely visited, is quite remote,” he told Karl and Shoey.
