Expert calls for action on sports surface safety after player death
Following the death of a 27-year-old Australian rules footballer, concerns have been raised regarding safety at multipurpose ovals.

Professor Alan Pearce, from the Australian Sports Brain Bank, told 6PR Mornings host Chrissy Morrissy that there are more effective ways to mitigate traumatic brain injuries.
“The reality is we don’t have the resources for specialised sporting fields for particular sports … I think one of the things that will need to be considered is how better to reduce the risk of brain injuries with the way we can protect different surfaces when they’re used for different sports,” he said.
