An Intensive Care Specialist at Sir Charles Gairdner is calling on the state government to stick with the February 5 date.

Dr Luke Torre, also Adjunct Professor of Critical Care at Notre Dame University, has started a petition that has already received almost 5,000 signatures from doctors and agrees WA is in the best possible position to reopen.

“Many of our vulnerable population have already had their third booster jab because they were the ones first in line, we’re in the midst of a hot, dry summer,” he told Perth Live.

“We are an obedient and compliant population at the moment and we have the weaker variant in Omicron.”
