A Liberal MP has broken his parties ranks after announcing that the WA border should re-open on February 5.

Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party in the Legislative Council, Tjorn Sibma, says the time is right to open up the state to the rest of the world.

“I think the time to open the state is now and I’m guided here after listening to my constituents throughout the northern suburbs,” he told Perth LIVE.

The Opposition hasn’t called for a specific date, but has urged Premier Mark McGowan to open the border.

On Thursday morning, Liberal MP, David Honey, says he couldn’t give a date becuase he “didn’t have health advice.”

“The fifth of February is still a realistic target,” Mr Sibma told Oliver Peterson. “The stars are aligning here in Western Australia better than they ever have before.”
