The City of Canning claims it’s had a breakthrough in its fight to stop a tiny beetle that’s killing Perth’s trees.

The polyphagous shot-hole borer was first discovered here in 2021, and has since forced thousands of trees to be chopped down.

Canning Mayor Patrick Hall spoke to 6PR Radio Perth Live presenter Oliver Peterson and said the council was trialing a “world first” solution, using systemically injected chemicals on 131 of it’s trees.
