Drug use and waiting times are key issues behind the concerning level of violence occurring in Perth Children’s Hospital, according to the Australian Medical Association.

Excessive violence against staff and patients at the emergency area at the hospital has seen them planning to increase security services.

AMA President Mark Duncan-Smith  told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast various departments at PCH were worryingly under-resourced.

“Unfortunately, it’s a bit of an indictment of our society; there’s about 30 to 35 [violent incidents] a day,” Mr Duncan-Smith said.
