‘Everyone’s hurting’: Pole-top fire related power outages could cost farmers millions

A series of pole-top fires over the weekend have caused extended power outages around Western Australia, affecting many farmers and businesses. 

9 News reporter, Andrew Du joined 6PR’s Perth Today as he has been around Nilgen investigating an ongoing power outage crippling local businesses and farmers.

Steve Beckwith is a farmer based near Gingin, and has been without power since Friday.

He told Simon Beaumont, “We believe it’s going to be in the millions, these things interrupt production for many months… the flow on effects are enormous.”

“Everyone’s hurting in this area,” Beckwith continued.
