An elderly woman has had her car stolen after being seriously assaulted while waiting for a COVID-19 at Royal Perth Hospital on Saturday morning.

69-year-old Kathy had recently returned from the Northern Territory, had already tested negative to COVID once, and was waiting in her car for her day 12 test.

She was sitting with her car door open when a woman grabbed her out of her car, threatened to kill her and bashed her.

“Bashed, kicked me, lost teeth, I’m bruised and battered, she stole my car, my phone, everything … she took it,” Kathy said on 6PR Breakfast.

Kathy spent Saturday night and Sunday at the hospital recovering before being discharged and sent home.

Remarkably, she was told to isolate for a further four hours without visitors once she got home because her mandatory quarantine wasn’t finished.

That’s despite the day 12 COVID test coming up negative.

“So I had to come into the house on my own and just stay … I had just under four hours to wait until I was out of isolation, and I wasn’t allowed to have a family member stay with me.”
