Eagles mocked in new billboard ad over Mitchell Freeway
As if the worst start to a season in club history wasn’t enough.
West Coast fans driving to work today would’ve been further disheartened by a a new billboard atop the Channel 9 building adjacent to the Mitchell Freeway in the CBD.
New Zealand-based tax company Hnry’s harsh new digital billboard plays on the woeful 1-11 start to the AFL season by the Eagles, with its slogan “Makes tax so easy even West Coast could beat it”.
Hnry’s Head of Business Development David Low told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast the inspiration for the ad was to further crack the Perth market.
“We’ve been in Australia for a bit over two years and we’re growing heavily in the WA market, so we’re picking up lots of tradies and freelancers over in Perth,” he told Parker.

“One thing we know well is tax and one thing we love is footy, so we’re obviously watching the Perth market and couldn’t help but have a little cheeky stab.
“The club themselves have actually reached out and they’re keen to see how we can work together.”
A picture of the cheeky billboard was posted to and shared by satirical Perth publication The Bell Tower Times on Thursday afternoon.
