An Australian zoologist is campaigning for the complete eradication of cats, arguing they pose a severe threat to native wildlife.

Antone Martinyo-Truswell, a Zoologist and Evolutionary Biologist at the University of Sydney, told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that the nation has a responsibility to act since it introduced the animals to the ecosystem.

“They are fascinating, interesting, very capable animals, and I think a lot of cat owners partly don’t give them the credit to understand what fiercesome and effective hunters they can be because they see them in this domestic context,” he stated.
