Driver runs over man and child in Perth’s south
The driver of a car that is believed to have suffered a medical episode and ran over a 53-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy in Perth’s south is in hospital on life support.
The male pedestrian is in a stable but serious condition at Perth Royal Hospital, while the boy was also taken to hospital but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
The 55-year-old man was driving a black Porsche SUV when he suffered a medical episode as he sped through Melville Reserve on Canning Highway.
He smashed through bollards, ending up in the carpark where two parked cars were hit, pinning one onto a resident’s fence.
The two cars that were hit belong to ‘Meals on Wheels’ and suffered extensive damage.
Witness Jay said it was a scene of chaos.
“I live right next door … where the car ended up, and I heard all these loud bangs and crash and then a woman screaming, so I’ve jumped up, had a look through the window, and seen the Porsche coming through the carpark next to my house,” he told Mark Gibson on 6PR Breakfast.
“So I’ve ran out the front … and the bloke was choking on his tongue behind the wheel.”
The driver has been taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital.
