Dramatic police chase ends up with car submerged in Moore river

A 28-year-old man is facing a string of charges after he allegedly pushed his car into the Moore river following a dramatic police chase overnight.
Police tried to stop the MG hatchback in Koondoola at 9:30pm on Thursday night, but he allegedly threw flares at officers sparking a scrub fire.
The police helicopter then tracked the vehicle 70 kilometres north to Caraban, where officers were eventually able to locate the driver and arrest him on a semi-rural property.
However, he had already pushed the car into the Moore river.
Authorities will return to the scene today to recover the car.
The driver is scheduled to appear in a Joondalup court today on multiple charges.
