Double Demerits: Police say to keep calm on the roads this holiday period

6PR Mornings

Drivers are reminded to stay safe on the roads as the double demerit period kicks off.

Police will be on the lookout for driving offences and breaking road rules could sting more than usual.

The period of higher penalties will last until January 9.

WA Police Inspector Mick Hayes told Karalee Katsambanis remaining calm on the roads during the busy period is important.

“The only thing you can control is the way you drive on the roads.

“Take a big deep breath, relax, plan to arrive at your location, don’t let other driver behaviour frustrate you.”
