Trump’s comeback in tatters as handpicked candidates fail

Republicans are poised to take the House of Representatives, but far short of the gains they sought in the mid-term elections.
The results were a staggering loss for Donald Trump, while US President Joe Biden outperformed expectations and, for now, is still standing as the next Democratic presidential candidate. US correspondent Charles Feldman told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that Florida governor Ron DeSantis could well trump Trump to become the party’s preferred presidential candidate.
“The problem with that is that, once Donald Trump views DeSantis not as an ally but a potential opponent, he will be wearing a big target on his back for Mr Trump’s venom,” he said.
