Domestic airline duopoly strengthens, muscling out the competition

A new report shows that competition in Australia’s domestic airline market has stalled.

Simon Westaway, CEO of the Australian Airports Association, explains to Perth Live host Oliver Peterson that while international travel continues to boom, more than 98% of domestic traffic is now controlled by just two major carriers.
“Critically, we need to have a very competitive domestic market in Australia, and sadly, competition’s becoming more concentrated and we’re feeling the impact as consumers,” he said.
