Aged care facilities which provide sub-standard meals to residents will be put under the microscope thanks to a new hotline funded through a federal budget program.

Council of the Ageing Australia CEO Patricia Sparrow told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast it’s an attempt to standardise the quality of food available in nursing homes.

“Nursing homes have variable quality,  so some places do really excellent meals and some have had less than desirable meals,” Ms Sparrow said.

“We know it’s a really important thing for older people living in residential care.”
