Hundreds of GPs and medical practices aren’t sure if they will be operating in another six months’ time.

The Royal College of General Practitioners says a third of the 1000 practices they surveyed reported a drop in income during the month of May compared to the same month last year.

“Because normal business has not been happening, but the costs of running their practices have continued…. this has just pushed a lot of practices right over the edge,”   Dr Charlotte Hespe told 6PR Breakfast.

Dr Hespe says although many people have opted to use telehealth during the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s still important to get checked out by your local GP.

“We don’t want to have diagnosed cancers, we don’t want people dying from heart attacks; all preventable healthcare things,” she says. Click PLAY to hear the full interview.
