Luke Ryan has backed captain Nat Fyfe as the club’s skipper after football analyst Kane Cornes suggested the Dockers should find a new leader.

“Nat Fyfe is one of the AFL’s most fascinating individuals. He’s brilliant in so many ways but is he a good captain and what legacy will he leave at Fremantle?” Cornes tweeted last week.

Ryan told Gareth Parker in his regular Thursday morning segment on 6PR Mornings that Fyfe was the best leader he has ever had and was supported by the entire playing group.

“He leads on field and off field, I think Kane should just stay out of it,” Ryan said.

The All-Australian defender said Fremantle’s round five opponent Essendon were a scary prospect who possessed an impressive attacking game.

Bouncedown for Sunday’s match at Marvel Stadium is 2.40pm, tune into 6PR Football for live coverage.
