Dockers star Luke Ryan believes Nat Fyfe will rise to the challenge of leading the Dockers to finals for the first time as captain.

The dual Brownlow Medallist has battled injury all year, playing just seven games, but will captain Fremantle in its first-ever final at Optus Stadium.

Ryan told Gareth Parker in his regular slot on 6PR Breakfast he was confident Fyfe can have an impact in September.

“He’s got the week off this week and then will do as much as he can … he can’t wait to get out there,” Ryan said.

Ryan couldn’t get his head around why teammate Andrew Brayshaw, who was voted the Players Association MVP last night, was named only on the bench in this year’s All Australian team.

“I don’t get the All Australian stuff, there’s no wingers in there, it’s midfielders as forwards,” he said.
