Luke Ryan insists the Dockers won’t rest on their laurels after a scintillating 5-1 start to the season that positions the club to make its first finals series since 2015.

The dashing All-Australian defender told Gareth Parker in his regular Thursday segment on 6PR Breakfast the players were focused no further than this weekend’s clash with the Cats in Geelong, one of the toughest assignments in football.

Ryan said draftee Jye Amiss and mature-age big man Josh Treacy were in line to replace the injured Matt Taberner up forward, while promising young defenders Heath Chapman and Hayden Young could be rested after missing Saturday’s big win over Carlton due to COVID health and safety protocols.

“We’ll see what JL [coach Justin Longmuir] wants to do but after a good performance and them being sick for a little while and then flying, you don’t really want to risk them,” he said.
