COVID-19 repercussions forced the State Government to delay its launch of the Container Deposit Scheme to October 1, with the date confirmed earlier this week from the State Environment Minister Stephen Dawson.

The scheme entails receiving cash for returned recycled containers, cans, milk cartons, beer bottles, plastic bottles etc.

There was some confusion however… with listeners concerned when the Minister asked participants of the scheme to NOT stockpile recyclables now because they wouldn’t be accepted. Especially confusing considering the earlier messaging was not consistent with this sentiment…
