‘Disingenuous’: Petrol cycle changes to reduce the number of cheap days

From today Perth’s motorist will be hit with more expensive fuel as the weekly cycle, in which fuel prices drop and rise, changes from weekly to fortnightly.

The government-run Fuel Watch has warned that the “weekly fill up day” has been reduced to every second Tuesday as fuel companies make the transition to the fortnightly cycle.

RAC WA Manager of Vehicle and Fuel Alex Forrest told Liam Bartlett the fuel companies were being “disingenuous”.

“When we see some of these people with very glossy advertisements on TV talking about the help you get through your journey,” he said.

“Yet some of those very same organisations are changing the fuel cycle to make it a bit more tricky for motorists to get cheap fuel.”
