Diesel prices hit record high in WA

Tomorrow in Perth the price of diesel will hit a new record average – at 232.4 cents per litre.
The previous record was 231.3 cents per litre in July this year.
CEO for Western Roads Federation, Cam Dumesny told Oly Peterson on Perth Live that record prices are the same across the nation, in France, and elsewhere across the world.
“A lot of it has got to do with Russia out of the market,” he said.
“I think we all assumed diesel was cheaper,” he said. “It’s always been cheaper.”
“But currently its sitting around 50-60 cents higher than unleaded petrol… which unfortunately is a global problem.”
Mr Dumesny also told Oly WA relies on diesel to transport goods in and out of Perth, and on top of skills and parts shortages will mean the extra costs will fall onto the consumer.
“Our operators have to pass these costs on. If they don’t, they’ll be closing the doors.”
