A fire in our Southwest has been burning for 6 months and will continue until the region receives persistent and heavy rainfall.

DFES Superintendent Andy Wright spoke to 6PR Afternoons host Julie-anne Sprague on how the winter rains failed to extinguish the fire as hoped.

“It’s the hazards that go along with the peat in the swamp area that’s burning that we’re most concerned about,” he said.
