A knife-wielding intruder has been fought off by a deli worker armed with a piece of wood in Perth’s north.

Police say a man entered the Ezy Plus convenience store on Beaufort street in Bedford just before midnight on Thursday.

6PR reporter Ezra Holt says the man was confronted by a staff member with a “block of wood”.

“With that he was able to essentially chase this alleged armed robber out of the store who did leave quickly empty handed,” he said on 6PR Breakfast.

“Police haven’t found him yet but he managed to stop the theft and prevent anything from being stolen and anyone from being hurt.”
