DBCA launches fox shoot program to save flatback turtle population
Extreme measures are underway to protect the flatback turtle from foxes north of WA.

Mid-December will bring beach closures near Onslow for a fox ground shoot, as Tristan Simpson from DBCA’s North West Shelf Flatback Turtle Conservation Program explained to Perth Today host Chrissy Morrissy that opportunistic foxes have decimated more than half the turtles’ nests.
“We know that it’s also going to benefit other local native fauna and hopefully give them a bit of a hand as well,” he said.
