WA Liberal Leader David Honey says the government should be doing more to encourage West Australians to receive their booster shot.

It comes as the date of WA’s reopening is set to be made in an announcement by the Premier later today.

“The one I’m really concerned about … we know there’s been a really poor take-up of the third vaccination dose, and the government have put no focus on this,” David Honey said on 6PR Mornings.

“The Australian Technical Advisory Group (ATAGI) on immunisation … they’ve come out and said ‘look, everyone who’s had the double-dose for five months or more should be getting the triple-dose’.

“And we know from this Omicron virus you need the third dose to have maximum protection, and our understanding is the number on third dose are low.

“What I’m mostly concerned is the government’s not putting any focus on this, and this is where all the focus should be now.”
