David Parkinson, the former police superintendent who fronted the investigation at the time, told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont his theory on the explosion.

Although the blast was later linked to the Japanese doomsday cult Aum Shinrikyo (which had purchased the 580,000-acre Banjawarn Station that year), Parkinson suggests otherwise.

“I know what the explosion was,” he said.
