Experts are warning that Australians are heading in the wrong direction when it comes to healthy eating, predicting that by 2030, Aussie diets will include much less fruit and far more junk food.

With an average of 35% of energy coming from discretionary foods, Dr Gilly Hendrie, Research Scientist at CSIRO, explained to 6PR Breakfast show hosts Millsy and Karl that we need to find ways to reduce that to below 20%.

“On average, we are having twice as much as we should,” she said.
