Fremantle’s Mayor is aware that illegal cigarette vendors are operating in her district and even knows their locations, yet she feels powerless to stop them.

Perth Today host Simon Beaumont agreed that illegal tobacco vendors are easily found across Perth as a whole and questioned why these establishments aren’t being shut down.

She responded, “The problem for us is that we have absolutely no powers under local government to shut down these operations.”
